Hearth · handmade studio OS
Ceramic, wood, and textile commissions sit on a kiln or dye lot, a promised ship date, and hours in the ask. Hearth is the handmade bench for the studio — not a listing marketplace.
Ceramics
A made-to-order dinner set is a lot, a cone, and a date. Past promised is flagged on the ware board — not buried in email.
Wood
The oak board is a commission. Until the finish date is honest, it does not ship. Labour hours stay on the ticket.
Textiles
Handmade wool waits on a dye lot the same way clay waits on a kiln. No lot on the record, no ship date.
Cost of a piece
Clay is cheap. Time is not. Margin is what remains after glaze, firing, and the hours on the wheel — not after materials alone.
Per-piece ledger
Repeatable dinner set. Kiln K-14. Promised 12 Aug — already late, so the labour is spent and the ship date has to move before payout.
Take payment
Stripe Checkout opens on the unpaid order total. The till cannot type a price. A commission with no kiln or dye lot still cannot ship, and a listed piece with no captured payment is not sold.
